After six years of fighting the pop-punk good fight, New Jersey quintet Houston Calls announced that they will be calling it quits.

The announcement may have come as a surprise to some since the band recently released their second full-length, End Of An Error, in October 2008, but apparently life on the road was enough to derail the Houston Calls train.

“It’s tough packing up your entire life and leaving friends and family for months at a time,” the band said on their Myspace page. “It’s unstable, it’s uncertain and it’s pretty darn unhealthy.”

Houston Calls cited financial instability and personnel changes (bassist Jarrett Seltzer and guitarist/vocalist Jose Lopez left in December 2008) as the reasons behind their breakup.

The band also asked fans to not blame their label, Drive-Thru records.

“Don’t turn this into a hatefest on Drive-Thru,” said their Myspace announcement. “There’s enough negativity burning against a label that took a chance on us way back when and gave us the opportunity to get to where we got.”

Houston Calls’ final hometown show will be at School of Rock in South Hackensack, New Jersey on August 29th.

I send all my love to Houston Calls. They are amazing and they didn’t deserve for this to happen. I’m still gonna rock out to A Collection of Short Stories and the End of An Error all of the time.
